This Sentence Building Mats activity is designed to support early sentence construction in a hands-on and structured way for Grade R, Grade 1, and Grade 2 learners. The set includes 17 different sentence mats, each focusing on common sentence starters such as I can, I like, I see, It is, This is, Here is, and more.

Learners use the labelled picture cards (each picture includes the matching word) to build sentences on the mats, then record their sentences using the included writing templates. Tracing sentence frames are provided for additional support, along with blank lined writing pages for independent writing practice.
